Mr. Floyd has been licensed to practice law in the states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania since June 1992. Currently he practices law with the Law Firm of James Carroll, III.
In January 2008 Mr. Floyd was appointed the Undersheriff of Atlantic County. As the Undersheriff he supervised over 100 law enforcement and civilian personnel in carrying out their constitutional mandated core functions. These include security for two state courts, transporting offenders, overseeing sheriff's sales, executing warrants and capturing fugitives.
Prior to that appointment he was the Chief Public Defender for the City of Atlantic City from January 2006 to January 2008. As the Chief Public Defender he supervised in house attorneys and pool attorneys in providing legal services to over a thousand clients a year. From January 1998 to January 2003 Mr. Floyd served as the Zoning Board Solicitor for the City of Pleasantville. From 1993 to 2007 Mr. Floyd served as the Legal Advisor to the New Jersey Conference Trustees of The African Methodist Episcopal Church representing 100 churches.
During the summer of 2005 Mr. Floyd hosted Gov. Corzine at his Northfield residence as a member of the Corzine Connection. In August 2006 Gov. Corzine appointed Mr. Floyd to a twenty-one member Advisory Committee on State Police procedures recognizing his expertise in civil rights matters as a longtime pastor and community leader.
In addition to his professional career as an attorney, Mr. Floyd is also an ordained Clergyman and since 1993 he has been a pastor in the community. He is the Founder and Board Chair of the Neighborhood Life Center of Atlantic City which serves the Atlantic City area by providing community programs to enrich the lives of all residents. In April 2007 he founded Christ Worship Center Worldwide and is the Senior Pastor.
He is married to Monique S. Floyd, the couple has four children and they reside in Northfield, NJ.
